  13. The ACCE01.ZIP file contains the following program files:

  15.         ACCESSES.EXE        The main program.
  16.         ACCESSES.HLP        The help file in Windows
  17.                             HELP format.
  18.         README.TXT          This file.
  19.         VENDOR.TXT          Shareware and Vendor info.
  20.         REGISTER.FRM        Registration Information.
  21.         BETATEST.TXT        Required reading for Beta Testers
  22.                             of Accesses and Windows 3.1
  23.         ARCHIVES.TXT        required reading for Archives
  24.                             users.

  26. You MUST Place ACCESSES.EXE and ACCESSES.HLP in the same 
  27. directory as the TASKMAN.EXE windows program. You must have 
  28. ACCESSES.HLP installed for the installation to work properly.
  29.  
  30. Accesses creates ACCESSES.INI when Accesses is 1st started if an 
  31. ACCESSES.INI doesn't already exist.
  32.  
  33. Please read at least until you see the asterisk separator. ie: 
  34. ************ so the INI file is properly setup!
  35.  
  36. REMEMBER TWO IMPORTANT ITEMS FOR ACCESSES:
  37.  
  38. 1.   FILE EXTENSIONS ARE PREFERRED !!!!!
  39.  
  40. 2.   You MUST go thru the TUTOR in ACCESSES.HLP
  41.  
  42. Accesses and Windows 3.1 Beta Testers must read BETATEST.TXT.

  45. in your testing procedure! Read TUTOR in ACCESSES.HLP for more...

  47. Follow these steps BEFORE LAUNCHING ACCESSES...
  48.  
  49. During the installation process you will automatically be storing 
  50. currently opened window positions to your ACCESSES.INI file. All
  51. of this can be easily edited by Accesses later but it helps to
  52. do some now.
  53.  
  54. 1.   Make a backup copy of your WIN.INI file and SYSTEM.INI 
  55. files NOW. I do nothing to your WIN.INI file; but hopefully you 
  56. will be prefixing most of your [extensions] section of your 
  57. WIN.INI file using an Accesses extensions update dialog box 
  58. later. I will ask you if I can add taskman.exe=accesses.exe to 
  59. your SYSTEM.INI file during the installation. (This change is not 
  60. required but speeds the Ctrl+Esc key call to Accesses. If you are 
  61. using a remote drive, adding the taskman.exe=accesses.exe line to 
  62. your SYSTEM.INI file speeds things up considerably.)
  63.  
  64. 2.   open one copy each of 5 or 6 of your most frequently 
  65. used programs before running ACCESSES. Open Windows File Manager 
  66. (or equivalent) and open the File Manager's 'About' Box (under the 
  67. Help menu) and if your 'Free System Resources are greater than 
  68. 30% open more windows until this number is between 20 to 30%, but 
  69. not less than 20%. eg. Open one each of Notepad, Write, Excel, 
  70. Winword, Amφ, calculator,..., etc If you're running windows in 
  71. the Enhanced Mode, open a DOS window as well and place the DOS 
  72. window where you want it to be placed.

  74. 3.   Close any duplicate programs. For example, Run only one 
  75. 'Notepad'. If you want to keep a duplicate program open, 
  76. minimized the program whose position you do not want to store. 
  77. (TUTOR will explain how to save both in a separate procedure 
  78. after the installation.)
  79.  
  80. 4.   Move these programs to the window positions that you 
  81. want them to normally be in when in the 'Restored' (not maximized 
  82. and not minimized) positions. USE THE RESTORED POSITION for all 
  83. of these WINDOWS.

  85. 3.   Then launch ACCESSES for the 1st time.
  86.  
  87. READ TUTOR in Accesses.hlp. This takes 5 minutes...
  88.  
  89. Do add accesses to your WIN.INI extensions using Accesses'
  90. Setup+Configure - Update WIN.INI extensions.

  94. Accesses does everything I could think of to help you access, 
  95. run, and place your programs where you want them to be. Accesses 
  96. can even do this from most other programs!!!! If you think of 
  97. something that Accesses should access and don't know how to do 
  98. it, call me. Accesses probably can do it now, if you knew how.
